Multi-Axis Deflection Monitor

The Multi-Axis Deflection Monitor continuously measures multiple types of deflection (in the simplest form: both linear and transverse hog and sag) on a floating dry dock. Using small sensors mounted in the wing walls (usually indoors on the safety deck) this provides readings that can be accurate to less than 1 millimeter over a 100 meter dock.

Overall display

In addition to the normal hog and sag readings, the system provides several types of bend, flex, stress, and angular information about the dock that are not available through other standard deflection measurement systems. Included in this array of information is data that can be used to calculate wing wall strain for vessel haul-in and haul-out.

3D display

Since the sensors are non-optical the system does not need line-of-sight or clear weather to operate, When calibrated to a manual optical system, the DM4AS will accurately replicate the same information (and more). Commonly, the system will be paired with the AAM (Attitude and Alarm Monitoring) module that can provide a corroborative waterline deflection reading which can then be used as an alternate method of deflection determination.
